Refreshing a payment processor trusted by 430k+ small businesses

The challenge

 

In 2020, Cybersource engaged with several agencies to update its branding to be more modern and fresh. As one of Cybersource’s subsidiaries and in an effort to achieve a similar look and feel, Authorize.net needed to adopt the brand while still maintaining the small business angle. Due to an accessibility requirement, the project was given 60 days to design and go live with the refreshed site.

A fresh, modern brand

Abstracted illustrations of the product’s UI were made to keep the imagery sleek and modern while still communicating the general functionality.

Authorize.net uses the same color palette as Cybersource with an emphasis on the dark navy. By leveraging the secondary colors, which Authorize.net’s parent company uses sparsely, we are able to communicate a fun, playful feeling more appropriate for small businesses.

The stock imagery used was revamped to have a more diverse cast. As a subtle nod to the two dots in the new Authorize.net logo, the photos are masked inside similar circles.
